Each division of the IRB is responsible for making decisions on different immigration or refugee matters. To make their decisions, they follow an administrative tribunal process. This process is like what happens in a court, but less formal. The process is flexible.
Procedures and
practice notices are used to provide information to parties and counsel appearing before the IRB. They explain the IRB's processes and set out steps that parties and the IRB should follow in certain situations.
Some procedures and practice notices apply to all divisions of the IRB, while some only apply to a single division.
