A list of references and additional sources consulted are included in each RIR. Sources cited are considered the most current information available as of the date of the RIR.

RIRs are not, and do not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim for refugee protection. Rather, they are intended to support the refugee determination process. More information on the methodology used by the Research Directorate can be found here.

The assessment and weight to be given to the information in the RIRs are the responsibility of independent IRB members (decision-makers) after considering the evidence and arguments presented by the parties.

1.1 Beliefs

The Living Stone Assembly's website provides the following statement of faith:

  1. We believe that the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative written word of God.
  2. We believe there is only one God, eternally existent in three persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  3. We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, in his virgin birth, his sinless life, his miracles, his vicarious and atoning death, his bodily resurrection, his ascension to the right hand of the Father, and his personal return in power and glory.
  4. We believe that regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential for the salvation of sinful man.
  5. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
  6. We believe in the resurrection of the saved and the unsaved - those who are saved unto the resurrection of life, and those who are unsaved unto the resurrection of damnation.
  7. We believe that the Church is the body of Christ, that all who are united by faith to Christ are members of the same, and that, having thus become members one of another, it is our solemn and covenant duty to fellowship with one another in peace and to love one another with the pure love that comes from God. (Living Stone Assembly n.d.a)

1.2 Activities

The information in the following paragraphs was taken from the website of the Living Stone Assembly:

The church offers online programs after school and on Saturdays which provide academic support. The programs include assessment of learning needs, tutoring, and activities for improving English proficiency. The church also offers extracurricular activities such as Bible story sharing, public speaking practice, drama, science experiments, math, and literary games (Living Stone Assembly n.d.b).

The website of the Living Stone Assembly indicates that the church offers Sunday services in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin (n.d.c).
