IRB releases new remuneration schedule for contracted designated representatives

The Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (IRB) is pleased to release a new remuneration schedule for contracted Designated Representatives (DRs). Contracted DRs support access to justice by representing people who are unable to represent themselves in proceedings before the IRB. The remuneration schedule explains how contracted DRs are paid for their work.

In the past, contracted DRs were paid a fixed amount. No matter how simple or complex a file was, the remuneration stayed the same.

The new remuneration schedule is designed to be fairer by better reflecting the important work contracted DRs do. It includes remuneration based on the level of effort per proceeding. The new remuneration schedule for contracted DRs is one more step in the IRB's ongoing efforts to provide meaningful access to justice for everyone who appears before the Board.
