The Immigration Appeal Division (IAD) of the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (IRB) will consider prioritizing the processing of certain immigration appeals involving persons significantly and personally affected by the situation arising from the devastating explosion in Beirut, Lebanon.
To be considered for priority processing, appellants are asked to notify the IAD regional office at which their appeal was filed, with a copy to the regional office of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). The written notification must include the following information:
- The IAD file number and the appellant's UCI number
- names of person(s) affected, including the appellant
- specific geographical location of the person(s) affected; and
- brief explanation as to how the individual(s) is/are significantly and personally affected by the incident.
The IAD will consider the request and determine next steps based on the information received.
