The Immigration Appeal Division (IAD) of the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (IRB) has issued a Practice Notice on the expansion of virtual hearings for immigration appeals.
As of October 22, 2020, all immigration appeal hearings will be scheduled virtually unless it is not appropriate for a specific case and previously scheduled in-person hearings can be changed to virtual hearings at the appellant’s request. Alternative dispute resolution (ADR) conferences and other proceedings will also be held virtually where possible.
