The Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (IRB) requires that this form be provided to confirm that your counsel is authorized to represent you before the
IRB. If your counsel is charging you a fee or receiving other consideration, he or she must be authorized to do so under the
Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and related
Regulations.
According to the Act and Regulations, the following persons may advise or represent another person for consideration before the IRB: a member in good standing of a provincial law society (including lawyers or paralegals), a member of the Chambre des notaires du Québec or a member of the
College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants (CICC).
Your counsel must complete a
Counsel Contact Information form and return it to the nearest
IRB Registry office.
If your counsel is not charging you a fee or receiving other consideration for representing you, please complete the
Notice of Representation Without a Fee or Other Consideration form and return it to the nearest
IRB Registry office.
If the
IRB does not receive either form, your counsel may not be allowed to represent you before the
IRB, and the
IRB will consider you to be unrepresented.
